AI in Design Could be Our New Best Friend – Here’s why. In the realm of design, the application of artificial intelligence is only just getting its footing at this point. What used to be a laborious and time-consuming manual process can now be accomplished with a simple push of a button. The fact that our machines can forecast and help us during the creative process simply broadens the scope of what is possible regarding the outputs of our creative endeavors.
There’s a good chance that many people are skeptical about this new technology, and they have good reason to be. The world is still learning how to use it, how to use it correctly, and what its best uses are. Nevertheless, we are making significant headway, and it is beginning to show in the way that designers employ AI. One shining example can be found within Adobe.
Adobe recently began to capitalize on the artificial intelligence craze by offering beta versions of its most widely used tools. Notably, the new capabilities in Photoshop Beta have been a massive hit with everyone here at Capsule, and we couldn’t be happier about it. The following is a list of some of our favorite new features:
Contextual Task Bar
The contextual toolbar was the first thing we saw when we opened Photoshop Beta. This small menu bar shows up and gives you choices based on what the AI thinks your next step will be. For example, we’ve been using this tool to quickly select things in images. This has helped us streamline our work, saving a lot of time we would have spent outlining stuff by hand.
Among the most talked-about components is the Generative AI system. This function analyzes a picture and makes educated guesses about what should go where to make it work. This method is ideal for extending an image without distorting the original.
Generative fill’s ability to insert objects into photos based on their content is another fascinating feature. Here is an illustration of what it would look like to use the ‘add a lighthouse’ command to have the software insert one of several lighthouses into the picture. This is interesting because it opens up countless opportunities for customizing stock photos.
For years, copying, repainting, and manually eliminating this feature required significant work. In 2023, artificial intelligence has advanced far enough that this is no longer a problem. Designers can just select an object that needs to be removed. AI can instantly estimate what that space should be replaced with. There will be no more strangers in the backdrop of shots!
The fantastic part about these new features is that Adobe’s AI creates photographs using Adobe Firefly and its stock collection. AI in Design: This is significantly safer for commercial use because we can be sure the images were not made from stolen artwork (which has, regrettably, been a massive issue with generative AI). Similar features are also appearing elsewhere, with Canva employing a similar tool.
AI and design still have a lot of areas for development. Some may argue that AI will become so bright that it will fully replace designers, but we believe in working with technology rather than against it at Capsule. Maintaining the personal touch that only the human brain can provide is critical. We’re excited to discover what else is feasible.
